DeSclafani was acquired in the Mat Latos deal with the Marlins in the 2014 season, and hit the ground running quickly. Following the trade, DeSclafani made 31 starts with the Reds in 2015 and posted a 1.35 WHIP with an ERA just over four. A reliever in college, DeSclafani has been a starter his entire pro career. He works in the low to mid 90s with the fastball, but can reach back for more. DeSclafani mixes in a solid slider and an average change up. Low walk numbers and good strikeout totals make DeSclafani a big league starter. DeSclafani suffered an oblique injury, which got his 2016 season off to a slow start.
