Finnegan was acquired in the trade, along with John Lamb, of Johnny Cueto to the Royals. The lefty spent some time in the bullpen in 2015 following the trade, but transitioned into the starting rotation in 2016. Finnegan went from the College World Series to the Major League World Series in just a couple of months after being selected in the 2014 draft first round by the Royals. Command is the biggest question for Finnegan, as the stuff to get big league hitters out is certainly there. He allows far less than a hit per inning, but walks have driven his WHIP up and gotten him into trouble in the past. Finnegan throws three pitches, including a fastball that gets into the mid-90s. The slider gets down to the mid-80s and the change up is used to keep hitters off balance as well.
