Straily was signed by the Reds during the 2016 Spring Training after he was released in camp by Houston. He found his way into the Cincinnati rotation early with injuries to other starters and saw some success. The Reds were the fourth team for Straily in his four year Major League career. The 2013 season was the most notable for the right-hander, as he made 27 starts with Oakland and posted a 3.96 ERA with a 1.24 WHIP. He finished fourth in Rookie of the Year voting that season. Straily had lost some zip on his fastball prior to the 2016 season, but regained much of it. He has reached as high as 94 with it, but generally sits in the 91-93 range as a starter. Straily also works with a slider and a change that have been solid pitches for him.
