Herget was a sixth round pick by the Reds in the 2015 draft out of South Florida, where he appeared both in a starting role and in relief. With the Reds organization, he has worked exclusively out of the bullpen and has seen a great deal of success. After having a strong season in rookie ball, the Reds were aggressive with Herget, skipping Low-A and going straight to High-A for 2016. He has a high K/9 and has shown solid control to go with it. Herget works with a sinking fastball in the low-90s from a slightly lower arm slot. He also worked with a slower curveball to compliment it.
