Peraza was one of the top prospects in the Braves organization and has now been involved in two trades in the past two seasons. It was the three-team Todd Frazier deal that brought Peraza to the Reds from the Dodgers. He was acquired by the Dodgers, along with Alex Wood, for Hector Olivera in 2015. There has been much scrutiny of Peraza as the main chip for Frazier, but he had gotten off to a strong start to the 2016 season with Louisville and earned a brief May promotion to the Reds. In five Minor League seasons prior to the promotion, Peraza hit .302 with a .730 OPS. While that included only 10 home runs, it also saw 70 doubles and 34 triples. He had 216 stolen bases and was caught just 54 times. Power is never going to be in the equation for Peraza, but he may be a player who can make a difference at the top of the line up if he continues to get on base at a solid clip.
