Duran was off to a strong start to his career, but was suspended for 80 games after testing positive for three performance enhancing substances – Drostanolone, Stanozolol, and Nandrolone – in February of 2016. Duran originally signed with the Reds in 2008 out of the Dominican Republic. The 6-foot-7, 230 pound Duran reached as high as Double-A in 2014 and spent most of the 2015 on the DL at the level. He was dealing with a hairline fracture and torn ligaments to his right arm. Duran is a career .243 hitter with 80 home runs prior to the suspension.
