The former sixth overall pick in the 2008 draft by the Marlins, Skipworth joined the Reds as a free agent prior to the 2015 season. He did not see the success that he was looking for, hitting just .199 between Pensacola and Louisville in 241 at bats. He was placed on that DL in April with an ankle injury to start the 2016 season, which kept him on the big league DL. He was eventually moved to the 60-day DL by May. Skipworth also saw time on the DL during the 2015 season. He has just four big league plate appearances with the Marlins in 2014, going 0-for-3 with a walk.
