Crook was originally a 23rd round pick by the Reds in the 2013 season out of Gloucester College. After spending 2014 with the Arizona League Reds, Crook was jumped to Low-A Dayton for the 2015 season. He spent the whole season there and hit .236 with 19 doubles and nine home runs in 381 at bats. Crook was off to another solid power season in 2016, a repeat of Low-A. In his first 82 at bats, he had four doubles and three home runs, but was lost for the season due to injury.
