Howard was the first round pick by the Reds in the 2014 draft. He worked both as a starter and reliever in college, and started his Reds career as a reliever. He was transitioning back into a starter for the 2015 season and saw mixed results and was placed in the bullpen. He then has stayed in the relief role for the 2016 season, which is a repeat of the prior season in High-A Daytona. The strikeouts have been there for Howard, but command issues have remained prominent. He is walking more than a hitter per inning and that will have to improve. He has a fastball that reached the mid-90s with an average curveball and a serviceable change.
