The Reds signed the Cuban Medina as a 20-year-old in 2013 with speed and possible power potential. Each has translated well to the rookie leagues since coming over. In 2014, he hit 10 doubles and six home runs in 176 at bats. However, he was even better in 2015, when he hit 10 doubles and 13 home runs. Average has been an issue for Medina early in his career, as he has yet to hit over .250 in a season. He did steal 14 bases in 19 attempts in 2015, but has yet to completely tap that resource as well.
