Jesse Winker has been activated from the DL by Louisville on Thursday and Dayan Diaz has been activated from the temporary inactive list.
Winker was placed on the DL with a wrist injury on June 17. At the time he was hitting .286, but with just a pair of home runs. In 2015, with Pensacola, Winker hit .282 with 13 home runs in 443 at bats.
On the rehab assignment, Winker hit .462 with two home runs in 13 at bats in the Arizona League, giving some hope that the lack of power may have been due to the injury. How Winker returns from the injury will determine his timeframe for being big league ready, as a Jay Bruce trade appears imminent.
Diaz, who spent a short time with the Reds in the big leagues this season, has a 3.90 ERA in 22 games. Over that span, he struck out 21 hitters and walked 10.
To make room on the roster, Brandon Allen has been placed on the DL, retroactive to July 11.
