Overview: Dan Straily continues to chug along, getting closer to career high numbers, while John Lamb looks to rebuild his season in Louisville. With Pensacola, Jackson Stephens will try to continue the consistency he has seen this season.
Arizona at Cincinnati, 7:10 p.m. EST
Starting pitcher: Dan Straily (4-6, 4.07 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, 84 K, 46 BB)
Notes: Dan Straily will make his 18th start and 21st appearance for the Reds in 2016 on Thursday. The 108.1 innings he has logged, along with the game appeared in are both highs since Straily finished fourth in Rookie of the Year voting in 2013 with Oakland. In two of his last three starts, Straily has gone at least seven innings, with the other being a six-inning start. He has allowed just 11 hits and six runs over that span.
Lehigh Valley at Louisville, 7:05 p.m. EST
Starting pitcher: John Lamb (1-2, 9.22 ERA, 2.05 WHIP, 12 K, 3 BB)
Notes: John Lamb will make his first start since being optioned to Louisville from the Reds on July 17. Lamb had struggled with the Reds with consistency and hard contact in 2016 and they send him back to try to regain confidence in his stuff.
Biloxi at Pensacola, 7:30 p.m. EST
Starting Pitcher: Jackson Stephens (6-8, 3.36 ERA, 1.18, 82 K, 30 BB)
Notes: Stephens has been a model of consistency for Pensacola during the 2016 season. He has gone at least five innings in 16 of his 17 starts. He also had a 5.1-inning relief appearance. His WHIP has remained under 1.20 most of the season and he has struck out at least five in eight of his outings.
Daytona at Bradenton, 6:30 p.m. EST
Starting pitcher: Wendolyn Bautista (3-1, 1.66 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, 19 K, 9 BB)
Notes: After getting off to a slow start to the season in Dayton, Bautista made the most of his June 4 promotion to Daytona. Friday will be the eighth start at the level for Bautista and he has failed to get through five innings just once. In that start, he only allowed two hits, two runs, and threw just 62 pitches. While still getting stretched out as a starter, Bautista went over 75 pitches for the first time in his last outing, where he tossed 84 pitches,
Dayton at Quad Cities, 8:00 p.m. EST
Starting pitcher: Austin Orewiler (2-8, 3.52 ERA, 1.43 WHIP, 48 K, 29 BB)
Notes: After allowing seven runs in back-to-back outings, Orewiler was much better in his last start. On July 16, he went five innings, allowing six hits and two runs, while striking out four. While it is still not the best outing he has seen, it is still moving in the right direction.
Billings at Grand Junction, 9:05 p.m. EST
Starting pticher: Adrian Rodriguez (2-0, 4.50 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, 26 K, 7 BB)
Notes: Rodriguez will be making his fifth start of the season on Friday for Billings. Though his past two outings were in relief, they were among his best of the season. In those two, Rodriguez went 9.2 inning, and allowed four hits and two runs. Over the span, he struck out five and walked one.
