Game preview (7/26/16): Cody Reed looks to continue success

Overview: Cody Reed looks to build off one of his strongest starts since being promoted, while Tim Adleman tries to make another step in the right direction in his fourth rehab start. Tyler Mahle and Andrew Jordan both look to build on recent success.

Cincinnati at San Francisco, 10:15 p.m. EST

Starting pitcher: Cody Reed (0-4, 6.75 ERA, 1.75 WHIP, 34 K, 12 BB)

Notes: Coming off his best start since his debut, Cody Reed takes the mound on Tuesday night. After going seven innings in his debut against Houston, Reed had failed to make it through five innings in three of his next four starts. However, on July 19, Reed tossed six innings of five-hit ball, allowing just two unearned runs. He still struggled with command at times, walking two hitters and getting elevated, the Reds hope that Reed has finally turned a corner.

Starting pitcher: Tim Adleman (2-1, 4.03 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, 20 K, 4 BB)

Notes: A night after Homer Bailey possibly completed his rehab assignment, Tim Adleman will make his fourth rehab appearance for Louisville.  Adleman injured his oblique on May 19. Prior to the injury, Adleman compiled three and a half good starts in Cincinnati and is trying to work his way back before the end of the season. Adleman worked his way up to 75 pitches over five innings last time out, but also allowed 10 hits.

Notes: Tyler Mahle will make his 20th start between two levels on Tuesday night for Pensacola. Since being promoted to Double-A, Mahle has been consistently good, after dominating High-A. Last time out, Mahle allowed just five hits in six innings of work. He did allow three unearned runs, but has allowed just one earned run in his last three starts, spanning 19 innings.

Great Lakes at Dayton, 7:00 p.m. EST

Starting pitcher:Ty Boyles (2-6, 5.54 ERA, 1.57 WHIP,54 K, 32 BB)

Notes: Ty Boyles will look to rebound from his worst starts in one of his toughest professional seasons. He has struggled with command at times and his stuff has played very hittable thus far. In his last start, Boyles lasted just 3.2 innings, allowing six hits and four runs. During the outing, he also walked three hitters.

Billings at Orem, 9:05 p.m. EST

Starting piticher: Andrew Jordan (0-1, 2.40 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, 30 K, 10 BB)
