Game preview (8/1/16): Santillan to debut with Dayton

Overview: Top prospect Antonio Santillan will make his debut in Dayton after being promoted earlier in the week. Tim Adleman will make his fifth rehab start with Louisville, while Rookie Davis looks to continue his hot stretch.




The Reds are off Monday, and return to action on Tuesday at home against St. Louis.


Louisville at Toledo, 7:05 p.m. EST

Starting pitcher: Tim Adleman (2-1, 3.60 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, 23 K, 5 BB)

Notes: Tim Adleman will take the hill for his fifth rehab start for Louisville. Outside of one sideways outing on July 21 where he allowed 10 hits, Adleman has been strong in his rehab efforts. The last time out, he worked six innings and has tossed over 70 pitches in each of his last two starts after injuring his oblique on May 19.


Mississippi at Pensacola, 7:30 p.m. EST

Starting pitcher: Rookie Davis (9-3, 2.62 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, 54 K, 24 BB)

Notes: Rookie Davis is in one of the strongest stretches of his career and certainly his best since joining the Reds organization. In his last four starts, Davis has allowed 19 hits and three runs in 23 innings of work. He has also struck out 24 batters and walked just three over that span.


Bradenton at Daytona, 7:05 p.m. EST

Starting pitcher: TBD


Bowling Green at Dayton, 7:00 p.m. EST

Starting pitcher: Antonio Santillan (0-0, -.– ERA, -.– WHIP, 0 K, 0 BB)

Notes: Antonio Santillan will make his first start for Dayton and his debut about Rookie level. In eight starts with Billings this season, Santillan posted a 3.92 ERA with a 1.23 WHIP. He struck out 46 batters and walked 16.



The Mustangs are off for the Pioneer League All-Star break.
