Seth Mejias-Brean, 3B – 1-for-3, HR, R, 2 RBI, BB

Game Notes: After loading the bases in the first inning, and wiggling out of it, Daniel Wright looked like he was starting to get into a groove.

He allowed just one hit in each of the second and third, but easily got out of the innings. However, the fourth inning was a different story.

In that fourth, Wright was able to pick up two quick outs, before allowing six straight hit, including back-to-back home runs. When the carnage was complete, six runs crossed the plate in the frame.

The start was the fourth time in his last five starts that Wright has allowed at least eight hits in a game.

Tony Renda added a double for the Bats and has now collected a hit in all three games since returning from the DL.

Other Notable Performers:

Chad Wallach, C – 2-for-4, R

Taylor Sparks, 3B – 1-for-3, HR, R, RBI, BB

Game Notes: After allowing a solo home run in the first inning, Tyler Mahle settled in nicely.

He allowed a single and a walk before picking up a double play to end the second inning. Then, he tosses perfect third and fourth innings, with three strikeouts in the two frames.

A pair of singles put two on with one out in the fifth, but Mahle was able to pick up a strikeout to strand both runners and end the threat.

Mahle finished his night by allowing two unearned runs in the sixth. The lead off batter reached on a fielding error and the second reached on a single. He retired the next two, but allowed a two-out, two-run triple

Zach Vincej added three more hits and is now riding a six-game hit streak. He is hitting .333 over his last 10 games.

Alex Blandino extended his current five-game hit streak and has quietly been hitting .344 over his last 10 games.

Over the span, Medina has hit .480 with six extra base hits and seven RBI. The two triples on Sunday go well with his two home runs on Saturday night.

Other Notable Performers:

Luis Gonzalez, SS – 1-for-4, 2B

Brantley Bell, 2B – 1-for-4

Game Notes: Alex Webb made his first start with Dayton on Sunday and ran into some trouble in the first inning.

After a lead off double and a walk, Webb allowed a RBI single and a second single that right fielder Zack Shields misplayed. However, they were able to rebound and get a runner at the plate. Webb was able to settle down and get back-to-back ground outs to end the inning.

Following the turbulent first inning, Webb faced just one of the minimum in the second and third – a walk.

Ty Boyles replaced Webb and tossed two of his best innings of the season, inducing a pair of double plays. However, the wheels fell off in his third inning of work, and three of his runs crossed the plate.

Dayton was only able to muster six hits for the game of offense and struggled to string anything together, a current trend for the Dragons’ offense.
