The Reds are off on Thursday and return to action Friday in Milwaukee.
Louisville at Charlotte, 7:05 p.m. EST
Starting pitcher: Rookie Davis (0-0, 20.25 ERA, 3.00 WHIP, 3 K, 2 BB)
Notes: After a disastrous first outing, Rookie Davis will take the hill for his second start with Louisville on Thursday night. In his first start, Davis lasted just four innings, and allowed nine runs on 10 hits. In 18 starts with Pensacola, Davis posted a 2.72 ERA with a 1.11 WHIP in 96 innings of work. Davis had an extremely good month of July. For the month, Davis posted a 2.49 ERA and he struck out 24 in 25.1 innings of work.
Tennessee at Pensacola, 7:30 p.m. EST
Starting pitcher: Tyler Mahle (5-2, 3.68 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, 43 K, 15 BB)
Notes: Tyler Mahle will make his 23rd start between two levels on Friday night for Pensacola. Since being promoted to Double-A, Mahle has been consistently good, after dominating High-A. However, he has come down to earth a bit lately. In his last four starts, Mahle has allowed 28 hits and 18 runs in 23.2 innings. While five of the runs were unearned, having more base runners eventually cost him. Last time out, he allowed eight hits and four runs in seven innings of work.
Tampa at Daytona, 5:05 p.m. EST
Game one Starting pitcher: Jose Lopez (0-0, 1.50 ERA, 0.67 WHIP, 5 K, 1 BB)
Game two starting pitcher: Ismael Guillon (6-2, 1.50 ERA, 0.96 WHIP, 96 K, 34 BB)
Notes: Two of the best pitchers of late on the team go in both games of the doubleheader for Daytona. In the first game, Jose Lopez will look to build on a strong outing last time out. He allowed just three hits and one earned run (two total) over six innings in his High-A debut. Ismael Guillon has struck out 10 batters in each of his last two starts, and is just mowing down the competition. In one inning of work in his last appearance in relief, Guillon struck out two of the three batters he faced. For the season, the opposition is hitting just .160 against Guillon.
South Bend at Dayton, 7:00 p.m. EST
Starting pitcher: Alex Webb (1-1, 1.13 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, 4 K, 2 BB)
Notes: Alex Webb will make his third Low-A start of the season after being promoted from Billings. In his first start, Webb had a tough first inning, but then settled down nicely. Webb was equally strong in his second start, allowing two runners on in the first and two singles in the third, but was tremendous outside of that. He tossed perfect frames in the second, fourth, and fifth. Prior to his promotion, he posted a 0.79 in five relief appearances with Billings. He has been transitioned into a starter for Dayton.
