Game recap (8/10/16): Ian Kahaloa bounces back, Jose Siri homers again

louisville

Game Notes: The pitching combo of Alfredo Simon, A.J. Morris, and Daniel Wright did much better than last time out.

In the last outing, each of the three were smacked around like a pinata. On Wednesday night, they worked 7.2 innings with nine hits and only two runs.

Simon stretched to two innings in his rehab assignment, while Morris worked one inning again in his. Wright tossed 4.2 innings, and allowed six hits, which has been an issue for him of late.

Jesse Winker added a hit and run in the contest. He is now hitting .371 in his 10 games in August.

Beau Amaral played his best offensive game since his promotion to Triple-A, with three hits. Amaral has hit in five games in a row, and in eight of the last nine games at the level though.

Jose Peraza picked up a single, but is just 2-for-15 in his last four games.

Pensacola was off on Wednesday night and return to action on Thursday.

daytona

Game two:

Result: Dunedin 7, Daytona 2

Starting Pitcher: Michael Sullivan, LHP – 3 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 4 K

Top Hitter: Reydel Medina, LF – 1-for-3, R

Other Notable Performers:

Blake Trahan, SS – 1-for-3

Juan Duran, DH – 1-for-3

Game Notes: In the first game of the double header, Jonathon Crawford saw some struggles in his second non-rehab start of the season. Crawford lasted just 3.2 innings, after tossing five last time out.

In the second game, Michael Sullivan also ran into some trouble in his start. However, unlike the first game, the offense was not able to come through.

Blake Trahan went 3-for-7 in the doubleheader. This extended Trahan’s hit streak to four games, which he is 7-for-17 over the span.

Shed Long added two hits in the first game and a walk and a run in the second game. That second game snapped a modest three-game hit streak, but also all multi-hit games. Long still has hits in six of his last eight games.

Result: Dayton

Dayton was off on Wednesday night and returns to action on Thursday.

billings

Result: Billings 6, Idaho Falls 1

Game Notes: Ian Kahaloa got the train back going in the right direction on Wednesday night after a couple of poor starts in his three prior efforts.

Wednesday was only the third time in his last six starts that he was able to at least five innings and the fifth that he has allowed four or more hits. However, it is only the second time that he allowed one or less run.

He had just one perfect inning, the third, but pitched around damage the rest of the way.

The power surge continued for Jose Siri, who hammered a first inning, two-run home run. He now has eight home runs on the season will Billings and six in his last 10 games. Five of those home runs are in his last four games.

Taylor Trammell added another double hit and has been strong of late, going 7-for-16 in his last four games. He has raised his average to.293 on the season.

Result: AZL Reds

The AZL Reds were postponed on Wednesday night and will return to action on Thursday.
