Game recap (8/11/16): Jesse Winker adds three more hits

Game Notes: Jesse Winker has been white hot in August at the plate with Louisville.

With three more hits, Winker is now hitting .421 in his 11 games in August, with a .500 OBP.

Beau Amaral smacked his first Triple-A home run and has hit in six games in a row. This also includes nine of the last 10 games at the level.

Tim Adleman was strong again for Louisville, and has been nothing but consistent since his return from the DL. Outside of the one sideways start that he had with 10 hits allowed, Adleman has allowed 30 hits and three earned runs in 36.1 innings. He has also struck out 25 over the span.


Result: Pensacola

Pensacola was postponed due to rain on Thursday night and return to action in a doubleheader on Friday.

Game Notes: Ismael Guillon continued his amazing stretch in the second game of the double header on Thursday night.

Guillon struck out nine batters and allowed just two hits and a walk in six more shutout innings. In his last 26 innings, in a mix of starting a relief, Guillon has allowed just eight hits and one earned run. Over the span, he has struck out 44 batters and walked just six.

Blake Trahan added a triple in the first game to extend his hit streak to five games, which he was 8-for-20 over the span. However, the streak was broken in the second game.

Shed Long picked up a hit in each game. That marked eight of the last 10 games that he has picked up a hit. Over that stretch, he also has six multi-hit games. Long is hitting .447 over those last 10 games.

Game Notes: Nick Senzel added a double on Thursday night in a losing effort for Dayton.

However, Senzel is just 2-for-16 in his last four games after back-to-back three hit games.

Chris Okey also doubled and hit in his fourth game in his last five. Prior to that, Okey was in a 0-for-15 slump.

In two of this three starts in Low-A, Alex Webb has gotten off to a slow start with rough first innings. One of these was Thursday night.

To four straight hitters, Webb allowed a double, two singles, and a hit by pitch. He then allowed a RBI ground out and a two-run single. However, he got an outfield assist at second base to escape the inning with four runs allowed.

After that, Webb was just one over the minimum in the second and third innings. In the fourth, he allowed a lead off single, a stolen base, and a sacrifice fly to tack on another run. He then got a double play in the fifth to erase a lead off single to wrap up his night.


Result: Billings


The Mustangs were off on Thursday night and return to action on Friday.
